Earthquake hits eastern Japan, no tsunami warning


TOKYO - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of half-dozen.3 hit japanese Japan on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Japan's Meteorological Agency said no tsunami warning was issued. The epicentre of the earthquake, that shook buildings in Tokyo, was at Chiba prefecture, close to the coast east of the capital, the agency added.

The tremor struck at a depth of seventy kilometers (43 miles), off Chiba prefecture, at 10:37 p.m. (1337 GMT), the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
